BAA Stansted
Through a planning obligation BAA Stansted championed the unique concept of the Stansted Area Housing Partnership.
The airport was given permission to grow to 25 million passengers per annum in 2002. One of the section 106 planning obligations assigned to that permission was to establish a fund of £2.2M for the provision of an affordable housing scheme, through a Registered Landlord, for social rented accommodation and assisted home ownership.
BAA Stansted has been successful in taking that obligation much further than the original brief and helped to create in association with the relevant local authorities the unique concept of the Stansted Area Housing Partnership.
The airport is delighted to have spearheaded a scheme that will provide nearly 400 homes over the next three years for people in the Partnership area, with potential for an additional 3,000 to 5,000 homes over subsequent years.
