Braintree District Council serves a population of nearly 135,000 people in a diverse urban and rural district: from near Chelmsford in the south to the Suffolk border in the north. The formation of the Stansted area housing partnership and the promised flexibility of allocations is welcomed wholeheartedly.
The Council has an impressive programme for the provision of new affordable homes, with 164 new homes by the end of this financial year and four out of ten existing properties already meeting the Decent Homes standard, mid-way through an £8m contract to renew 1000 kitchens and bathrooms throughout the District.
The Council is highly rated by the Audit Commission: with well managed services, public spaces, recycling and leisure facilities. Our aim is to meet local needs and maintain the high quality of life for residents, within a background of sound financial management. |
