East Hertfordshire District Council

Set in attractive rolling countryside East Herts Council provides services for five historic market towns and more than 100 attractive villages and hamlets.
Half of the 130,800 population live in the main towns. The area's special character is largely due to its mix of historic buildings in picturesque settings. Development and building has been sensitively controlled by East Herts Council to protect the local environment.
The council's vision is to improve the quality of people's lives and preserve all that is best in East Herts. To achieve this, a series of priorities have been drawn up around which all our work is based. These include protecting our natural assets through initiatives that achieve economic and environmental balance and preserving the unique mix of rural and urban communities.
Other priorities focus on providing leadership in our work with others aimed at reducing the fear of crime, supporting the most vulnerable and improving standards of neighbourhood management. |
